Position Title: Research Technician Department: Medicine - MHI - 411427 Position Summary: The Jensen Lab in the UNC McAllister Heart Institute seeks a dedicated Laboratory Research Technician to support biomedical research on the molecular basis of heart failure using cell culture and mouse models. The primary purpose of this position is to facilitate and support daily laboratory research activities and operations. The successful candidate will assist with maintenance of research infrastructure, including animal colony support. Responsibilities will include cell culture, standard molecular biology bench top techniques, animal handling and genotyping. Another primary component of the position is to support laboratory organization and research productivity by maintaining inventories, ordering supplies, organizing samples, assisting with experimental design and supporting data organization. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. Management Preferences: Recent experience with supporting biomedical research in cardiovascular pathophysiology or myocardial biology Recent experience with experiments carried out in laboratory animals Recent experience with mammalian cell (particularly cardiomyocyte) culture or standard molecular biology techniques Recent experience with thorough and accurate data acquisition, analysis and reporting Recent experience working collaboratively in a laboratory environment Campus Security Authority Responsibilities: Not Applicable.
